Flint Academy Mission Statement

"The mission of The Flint Academy is to provide an
education in the classical tradition for all students regardless of their
learning needs, integrated with a Christian worldview, having the Scriptures at
the center, and presented in a family oriented, nurturing environment."

April 8th-11th

History/ Bible
In Bible, we will read and act out Jesus is with his friends ( John 12 1:8). In History, we will read Vespucci and Magellan. Our test will be next Monday.

Language Arts/ Poetry
In Language Arts, we will continue working on contractions and finish Primary Phonic Readers.  In Poetry, we will continue practicing A Prayer in Spring. We will learn the sign for white, happy, and love.

*Field Trip*
On April 30th (Tues), we will take a field trip with upper-school to Scarborough Faire.
Time: 9:30-3:30
Cost: 7.25 per student
         10.00 per adult
Due by: April 25th

*** We strongly urge parents to attend. We need extra supervision and transportation.

April 1st- 4th

History
In History, we will read Christopher Columbus and complete a map activity.

Nature Study/ Bible
In Nature Study, we will draw and plant Royal Burdundy Bean Plants. In preparation for Wednesday, we will read The Plagues in Bible Story Book for Children.

Language Arts/ Poetry
In Language Arts, we will begin a unit on contractions. In Poetry, we will continue learning A Prayer in Spring.

*On Wednesday, Rabbi Shapira will be here to teach us about the Christian symbolism in the Passover.

March 25th- 28th

History
In History, we will review Ferdinand and Isabella Unite Spain and take a test on Wednesday.

Art
In Art, we will dye Easter eggs and make origami birds for Mrs. Hallford's baby shower!

Bible
In Bible, we will read about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

*Easter Party*
Please bring 10-12 plastic eggs and 1 bag of candy by Wednesday. If you haven't already- Please sign up to bring an item of food to our party.

Artifact Dig!





 


March 4th-7th

History
In History, we will finish our battle flags and take a test over France and England at War. We will also being our artifact dig this week! I will post pictures over spring break!


Heidi/ Lang Arts
We will read Chapter 19 of Heidi and add to our scenery book. In Language Arts, we will finish plural nouns and being learning about linking verbs. We will also continue with copywork, narration, and dictation using selected stories from Writing with Ease.

Nature Study/ Poetry
In Nature Study, we will pick mustard greens from our garden and draw them in our nature journal. In Poetry, we will continue practicing A Prayer in Spring by Robert Frost.

** Spring Break: March 11-15**

February 25th- 28th

History
In History, we will read and narrate France and England at War. On Thursday, we will make personalized battle flags using sandpaper.

Bible/ Lang Arts
In Bible we will read How to Pray and Stay Strong. Students will complete a drawing narration to show 4 examples of how to live a life following God. In Language Arts, we will work on plural nouns, copywork, narration, and dictation using selected stories from Writing with Ease.


Nature Study
In Nature Study, we will take a nature walk to the front of the school and draw Purple Kale. We were unable to do this last week due to weather conditions.

Poetry
In Poetry, we will begin practicing the first 3 lines of A Prayer in Spring by Robert Frost. Students will learn how to sign the words for ‘prayer’, ‘flowers’, and ‘think’.

February 18th-21st

History
In History, we will finish reading The Plague. Students will complete a map activity by locating and coloring areas that show where the Plague spread.


Heidi/ Lang Arts
We will continue reading Chapter 17 of Heidi and add to our scenery book. In Language Arts, we will continue with copywork, narration, and dictation using selected stories from Writing with Ease.

Nature Study/ Poetry
